Most weather apps show day eight just as confidently as tomorrow: an icon, a temperature, done. But the further ahead you look, the less certain a forecast gets. Nimbus Weather simply says so. Every day carries a plain-language confidence level of high, fair or low, based on how far ahead that day is. At a glance you can see which days you can plan around and which may still change.
Forecasts come from Google WeatherNext 3, an AI weather model by Google, delivered through the Google Maps Platform Weather API. The app shows current conditions, an hourly and a 10-day forecast, a rain radar and the rain outlook for the coming hours. You can turn on an optional rain notification, add a home screen widget and share today's weather as an image card.
Nimbus has no ads, no account and no tracking. Your location is only used to fetch the forecast. City search works offline across more than 16,000 places, including old and foreign names.
Nimbus is built by Paul van Gompel, a solo developer from the Netherlands. Before launch, 12+ testers used the app for 14 days: friends, family and fellow developers found through Reddit test swaps. Their feedback led to more than ten updates. For the Netherlands and Belgium the app also shows rain in 5-minute steps for the next two hours, based on the KNMI radar nowcast, such as "Rain in 20 minutes, until 14:10".
